Schools
Herzlia and St Cyprian’s have committed their regular involvement to help keep the Park clean, to assist with the re-establishment of the flora and fauna of Table Mountain and to assist with other sustainable development projects in the Park.
- Herzlia donated R200 000 towards fencing and additionally extended their current security service provider’s scope to the Park for a 3 month period. This was at no cost to the Trust or residents in the area to ensure that Phase 1 of the Project can be successfully implemented. This additional security contribution was for R223 000 over and above what was initially committed to assist in making Phase 1 of the Project feasible being:-
- The ablution facilities at the sports grounds have been reconfigured to ensure that a bathroom is available for use by the visitors to the Park. The key is available from the security guards on duty.
- The parking area at the sports grounds are available for use by visitors to the Park over weekends and evenings when no Herzlia sporting events are taking place.
St Cyprian’s donated a sum of R400 000 towards Phase I of the Project.
Kapstadt International Properties
As part of their 30th birthday celebrations Kapstadt International Properties wanted to give something back to the community that they have so long been a part of. As a gesture of thanks to their clients and all residents of the City Bowl, Kapstadt donated R100 000 to Phase 1 of the Project.
City of Cape Town
The City has entered into a Co-operative Agreement with Friends of Van Riebeeck Park (“Friends”), an association of persons, which allows the making of improvements to the Park. The Co-operative Agreement enables the Trust to implement the various phases of the project through Friends while the City remains liable for the maintenance, cleaning and cutting of lawns. In a Memorandum of Agreement between the City of Cape Town and Platteklip Project Trust, the City contributed R500 000 to Phase 1 of the Project.
Friends of Van Riebeeck Park
Friends of Van Riebeeck Park voluntary EXCO Committee has been instrumental in managing the day to day operations along with the VRP Security, Activation and Green Teams. Friends of Van Riebeeck Park enables The Mountain Market and Bliss ensuring continued use and activation of the park.
SanParks
We have also liaised with SanParks regarding the Project, and SanParks has given us their support.
